The 9th district's current boundaries were established in 2001.[1] The district currently consists of 34.61% of Sacramento County including 90.54% of the city of Sacramento, 0.15% of Arden-Arcade, 66.07% of Florin, and all of Parkway-South Sacramento.
The previously defined 9th district, established in 1992, also represented most of the Sacramento area. However, districts created in earlier decades were significantly different; for example, the legislative district map established in 1983 placed most of the Sacramento metropolitan area in the 6th State Assembly District.[1][2][3]
